Front deltoids

Lift one light bell in front of you with both hands. Keep your trunk still and let your shoulders control both the lift and the return.

How to do it

  1. Grip the handle

Stand hip-width apart with both hands beside each other on the handle. Let the bell hang in front of your thighs.

  2. Set a steady base

Soften your knees, brace your middle and keep wrists straight with a small bend in your elbows.

  3. Raise in front

Lift the bell smoothly to shoulder height or lower within a comfortable range. Keep your ribs down and shoulders away from your ears.

  4. Lower slowly

Bring the bell back in front of your thighs without dropping it or using your hips to begin the next lift.

Keep in mind

  • Choose a light bell you can lower smoothly.
  • Keep the elbow bend small and unchanged.

Watch out for

  • Swinging the bell with a hip drive.
  • Shrugging or leaning backward to lift higher.
